On our journey of optimal health, picking the healthiest personal care products, including makeup is just as important as picking the right foods and lifestyle habits. As awareness about the danger of chemical ingredients, animal cruelty and environmental degradation on our planet has increased, we saw the emergence of companies that were committed to providing optimally healthy products in the most harmonious and sustainable of ways. One of these companies is Real Purity and in this review I will share with you about their natural mascara.
In my quest over the last few years to remove as many toxins from my life as I can, and go as natural as possible, there was one area that seemed to be the most challenging, and that was makeup. Yes, I know, to be truly natural, who needs makeup, right? But there is definitely an element of fun and style in some makeup use. We don’t have to be regular or heavy makeup users to enjoy a unique look or style. My journey with makeup was always on the lighter side, and only continued to decrease as I became optimally health conscious. Today, the only thing that is part of my occasional makeup routine is some eye makeup, which I highly value and enjoy.
My journey to find the top quality, natural eye makeup was not easy at first. It was thanks to one of our readers, Leslee who back in March 2010, connected with me after hearing about my quest to tell me about a great natural mascara from Real Purity. I looked into all the reviews on the web, the ingredients and indeed, it seemed this was a truly all natural, highly effective mascara. So finally I ordered one through a Canadian online store and was truly impressed!

My Experience & Thoughts on Real Purity Mascara
The Real Purity mascara came in no box, and with no fancy name or label. This did not bother me one bit. I also know that with most mascaras, the first few times of use are not indicative of the product’s quality or efficacy. Well, I was very pleasantly surprised…. From literally the first use, the mascara was amazing!
I have been an avid mascara user for probably almost 15 years now, and have tried many different popular mascaras on the market, and even one “more natural” one, which was like using water and useless. Hence, when I speak about this mascara, I have lots of experience, and lots to compare it to and against.
Unfortunately as the story goes, many times a truly natural product comes at a price of how effective it is, in terms of what it should work like. Not with this mascara. The mascara works amazing! Someone could have slapped a popular brand name label on it, and I wouldn’t know any different. In fact, it works better than some of the famous cosmetic brand ones. It is not too thick, not too thin. It coats my eye lashes without any clumping, while gently thickening and lengthening them. Finally, it also stays on great all day without any smudging. In fact, yes guilty, I have slept with it once or twice and in the morning it still looked as good as it did, the night before.
Now if all that wasn’t the best part, let’s check out the ingredients. The mascara uses very common, natural ingredients and if you glance in the photo, you will see the list is short, and actually has names one can somewhat relate to, not some unpronounceable chemical soups.
Many women cannot wear mascara due to the eye irritation they suffer from the chemicals used in them. I have never experienced that, so I cannot comment on this one, however from the reviews on the net from women with allergic reactions, this mascara does not cause any problems.
In terms of price, it sells for about $15US. This, as anyone who knows their makeup will see, is more than a fair price for a product that is so good at doing what it is supposed to and chemical free on top of that!
On the Real Purity web site, the mascara is one of their best sellers and touted by women as the best mascara they ever used. Well, I wholeheartedly agree! It is truly an amazing product and it feels so good to know that I can enjoy some eye makeup without subjecting myself to harmful chemicals.
I thank Leslee again for introducing me to this product, and can confidently say that after almost 6 months of use (of the same bottle), this is a keeper for me. For as long as I choose to wear mascara, I will be sticking to this one.
