Want to Improve Your Allergies – Stop Stressing!

Allery sneezeIt’s that time of year again! Ragweed season starts mid-August and leaves many people teary-eyed, itchy and congested.

Today however, ragweed is just one of numerous allergens that afflict people worldwide and the number of new allergies increases yearly. Allergies are currently the fifth-most-common chronic disease in America, and medical costs to treat them can reach $3.4 billion each year. Also, nothing today seems to be too bizarre to have an allergic reaction to.

If you have ever suffered from allergies, you know the excruciating discomfort one can go through that many times prevents us from enjoying and carrying out everyday life activities.

Many people turn to drugs for quick relief, but unfortunately that is not the way to go for many reasons. Remember, every time your body acts out it is trying to tell you something and the solution is always about getting to the root of the problem, not just masking it temporarily. Many times too, the solution lies directly in our feelings and actions.

Hence, in the latest study scientists have discovered that even slight stress and anxiety can substantially worsen a person’s allergic reaction and the added impact of stress and anxiety seem to linger, causing subsequent days of a stressed person’s allergy attack to be much worse.

Toxic Drugs, Toxic Systems And Unnecessary Deaths

pillbottles.jpgOkay, so it is no surprise that today, more than ever, most of the North American population is on one or more prescription medications.

It is quite disturbing to see that we have reached such a catastrophe. And do not fool yourself into thinking this is somehow normal - it is in fact a catastrophe when most of us cannot make it through the day without taking one or more prescription drugs.

So who or what is to blame? That is an easy question to answer. Aside from the government, businesses and the economy, the main culprits are: one, the drug companies (obviously) and two, the consumer (unfortunately).

See, the drug companies have discovered there is a great market in “trying” to help people get so called “better”. The key word is that they are stuck in the process of trying, because really they can’t ever have you get better or else you would end their lucrative cash flow. So they put out massive numbers of emotion induced commercials and ads that target the vulnerable consumer, and talk many a doctor into prescribing the latest and greatest drug to their patients.

As for the consumer, well sorry to say, but you are just as equally to blame. Many of us have not only bought into the ads, but have evolved to think that when it comes to our bodies, any unpleasant symptom needs a quick fix (treatment) instead of leading lives in the first place that focus on prevention. We get a headache, joint pain, or a cough… and what do we do, run to get a drug that will quickly erase the symptoms. The problem with this approach is that of course it is a short term solution as it never really solves the root of the problem, just masks it or gives us a quick way of coping with it.

Hence in this article, I want to talk about the greater cons rather than pros of taking many prescription meds and share with you the latest research, which states that Americans are likely exposed to unacceptable side effects of FDA approved drugs due to how these drugs are tested and marketed.

Healthy Tips for a Vacation or a Drug Promotion?

healthytrip.jpgI have recently come across a list that I thought would be a great idea to post and share with you here on Evolving Wellness.

The Harvard Medical School came out with a “10-Minute Consult: Healthy Travel“, which includes a list entitled “10 Health Items to Take With You on Vacation”. This list provides the information you need for a safe and healthy trip.

At first glance I thought - wow, what a great idea and probably very helpful as our summer and vacation season is upon us.

But after thoroughly reading the list, I shook my head as it became blatantly obvious that the pharmaceutical industry has a foothold in pretty much every aspect of our lives, including our vacation time.

So in this article, I will share with you the list, with some explanations of each so called “health item”. But beyond that, I want to share with you a new way of seeing this list and the world around you which is still so intent on treatment, instead of prevention.

Thanks to David who asked me a great set of questions, I will answer those questions in this article to offer you some more credible information and practical understanding of how your system works versus how you were brought up to believe it works and how society would have you believe it works.

Treatment or Prevention: The choice is yours!

I have just come across a fantastic video for Evolving Wellness, by reading a blog I enjoy called, Fertilehealthy.  It is one of those videos that is worth spreading to as many people as possible, as it cleverly illustrates with humour a sad reality which many of us live in when it comes to our health and our unwillingness to open up our mind for a change and see what really is going on.  Check out the video and then read on for some more information with regards to treatment versus prevention when it comes to your health.
