Well this is not the first and definitely not the last article that I will be writing about alcohol.
By now most of you know my stance where alcohol and optimal health are concerned and that is the fact that you cannot have one along with the other.
In the latest study from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, excess drinking has been linked to people developing metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome may seem like some rare disease or condition to some, but it is quickly becoming the next disease that is taking over the world in epidemic proportions.

Back in April, Evolving Wellness featured a 5 Part Series on How to Live a Long and Healthy Life, based on the documentary “How to Live to 101″ by Horizon BBC.
The documentary introduced us to 3 populations of people in the world that seem to all be beating the odds and having the largest amounts of the longest living citizens. The 3 populations were from: Okinawa (Japan), Loma Linda (California) and Ovodda (Sardinia).

At the end of May, Evolving Wellness featured a 5 part Sun Smart Series to maximize the benefits of the sun, while minimizing the risks.
One of the consumer’s biggest challenges I noted, was to actually find a sunscreen that would protect against the harmful radiation of the sun, while at the same time not increasing the risks of skin and other cancers due to the harmful chemicals in the sunscreen.
Finding safe alternatives was not that easy, that is until now!
The Environmental Working Group’s division Skin Deep has just updated and released their list of the safest and most effective sunscreens. They investigated over 1000 brand name sunscreens and the results are in. Their findings indicate that 4 out of 5 sunscreens contain chemicals that pose risks to our health. This is obviously not good news for a product that we are trusting to protect us.
And so I am delighted to share this list with you here!

Most of these foods are not common knowledge to the average person, nor are their health benefits. Some of these foods may be known to some of us as healthy, but for some reason we have a hard time making them part of our daily diet.
