We just finished our first new month, in a new decade! And what a month January has been! Hopefully you have had a beautiful and healthy start to the New Year. January may be over, but our quest for healthier living can take place at any time.
For me, January was wonderful as I got to take a wonderfully relaxing vacation down south. Had a chance to soak up lots of natural vitamin D, ground my body and immerse myself in some really clean air and water. How about you? How was your January?
We know of course, that many people in the world did not have such a great start to the New Year, such as the people of Haiti. Their time of need is a chance for all of us to show our compassion. If you have not already had a chance to live out your human side of compassion, consider doing so today, with Hope For Haiti.
At this time I would also like to extend a special thank you to our January featured “Evolving Wellness in Action” story from Jennette Fulda of Pasta Queen.
As well I would like to thank our two guest authors, Nathalie Lussier of Raw Foods Witch and Chris Birk of Surety Bonds. Both of them contributed their expertise and talents here in valuable ways, for you the readers.
We started the month off with some exposure of common everyday items, that may be harboring potentially dangerous chemicals for you and your family, in “Hidden Toxins Where You Least Expect Them.”
I then shared with you the “Top 13 Risk Factors for Cancer” to help you be aware of the risks and how to minimize them to live a cancer-free life.
In the middle of the month, after having come back from my travels, I shared with you some of my experience of how to still eat healthy while traveling or on vacation.
We finished the month off with two special guest articles. The first one came from Chris Birk with some helpful advice on how to pick the right gym this year so that you don’t face financial problems in case the gym closes shop.
Our last article this month came from Nathalie Lussier and she explained how we can go beyond drugs to a drug-free healthy living based on one very easy and not-so-secret formula.
Due to my travels, unfortunately I had no chance to put up any reviews or recipes this month, but have some interesting reviews lined up for you next month and an amazing book I keep promising to tell you about that may change your life where health is concerned.
As for February, it is observed as Heart Month according to the CDC, and with heart disease being the leading cause of death today, there is so much that can be said about this topic, especially that it is for the most part a lifestyle disease.
So whether you are thinking about Valentine’s Day hearts or not, February is a great time to start incorporating a heart healthy lifestyle into your life.
Live Long! Live Healthy! Live Happy!

Hi Evita,
Very awesome you had the opportunity to soak up some of the natural Vitamin D this month! (and warmth!!!)
Looking forward to everything you have coming up…
@ LANCE – Thanks so much for stopping by Lance. It is always a pleasure to hear from you!
And yes indeed, nothing like getting vitamin D the real way. It is way to cloudy here in the north to properly get that, and even when it is sunny, it is usually accompanied by bitter cold. But I like to always be positive and remember that just after February is the start of spring in March :)
Ahh I long for a little Vitamin D the natural way too. ;) Thanks for everything you do here Evita, you rock! :D
@ NATHALIE – Thank you so much Nathalie for your warm and kind support! I love so much what you do too :)
Here’s wishing that 2010 will be a big year where people find their hearts by opening up to their long lost feelings. They will then be in touch with the flow of Life and will no longer find the isolated rooms of dis-ease.
Hi Bernie!
What a beautiful message for 2010 – thank you!
