Happy Earth Day!

earth dayToday is Earth Day and I wish each and everyone of you a wonderful day!

It is no secret that our planet is more fragile than ever before since humans have inhabited it.  And so on this day I ask you just to reflect, even if it is for a few minutes on what this planet means to you.  Amidst all the species going extinct each day (yes each day), and amidst all the pollution of water and air, there is hope.

The hope that I see, is first of all that we have this day called “Earth Day” where many people and organizations try to bring awareness and education to others on the topic of the health of our Earth.  Secondly, even though there are still many, many people out there who choose to ignore what our planet is going through, there are also many people who are waking up each day to the reality of what human actions have done to this planet we call home.

One thing that always boggles my mind is that most of us in the Western world live in a nice house or apartment and we obsess about cleaning it and keeping it nice because we are its inhabitants.  So how come we do not see the connection when it comes to our planet? We would not throw around garbage inside of our homes, why do we throw it around on our planet? We are after all inhabiting this planet just like our home.  The thing is though, that you can lose a  home and build a new one, if we lose this planet, unfortunately we cannot build a new one.

Here is some more food for thought:

It was this past weekend that I was watching a video where a nutritional doctor in talking about diet and eating meat, stated “when all the fish are gone by the time your children grow up, and they look back at pictures and ask what happened to these amazing creatures, what will our answer be – they are gone because of a simple thing like the way they tasted?” Sounds sad, no?  But if you look now at how many of us act in exactly this way when it comes to eating meat/fish, that is what we are saying. We seem to be unable to deny ourselves these organisms just because we claim “they taste good”.  So for such a small and really not beneficial in the long run thing , are we really willing to wipe out entire species? I think that is something to ponder on today too.

There are many activities and ideas one can do and participate in for Earth Day, and whatever you choose, may the satisfaction of your actions be all the thanks that you need.  And may this day move you to a greater responsibility and accountability when it comes to our planet through all your words and actions.

In today’s times, I personally do not think we can afford one day to think and do something for the Earth, but incorporate a new way of living that is in line with healing our Earth, every day!

    Hi,

    belated happy earth day.

The earth is our home, our habitat. still we seem to abuse her and spoil her equilibrium for our selfish temporary benefits. We should act a little more responsibly as we happen to be the best creatures of the earth. we have to act now to protect our environment and the creatures living in here. we have to act now before it gets any worse.

I care for this world and i blog to raise awareness. i know that i dont have much knowledge about the earth, but little efforts are also important, right? i believe that little efforts like these will have a huge impact when combined. so i advice all to contribute even a little bit for the betterment of the mother earth.

I have also posted on Earth Day, i have posts about environment and animals becoming extinct. you can check it out in your spare time.

    peace and best wishes

    @ IRTIZA104 – Hi and thank you :)

Wow that is so beautiful of you to be such a passionate steward of the Earth. And you are totally right, every bit, every word, every action no matter how small makes a difference.

May we all remember the famous line from Gandhi, “Be the change you want to see in the world”

So it is very wonderful to hear about your efforts and spreading awareness about the Earth and even share a birthday on this special day!
