@ TOM - Thank you Tom!

In terms of dreams, this was an area that I was very interested in all my life as I almost always had vivid and colorful dreams and most of the time could remember them.

Well throughout the years I have done a little research here and there on them and nothing seemed to click until I looked at dreams from a spiritual perspective.

So in terms of remembering more, etc. First and foremost sleep has to be top quality. The less we sleep and the less regularly, the less we can actually recall of our dreams.

The best dreams and most memorable ones seem to happen when we are most rested and relaxed. That means nothing heavy on your mind when you fall asleep or in your life in general.

Finally, from a spiritual perspective, or perhaps we can say a quantum physics perspective more and more today points at the facts of dreams being our access points to different levels of reality and different dimensions. Generally it is a time for our soul to play out its life. During the day our brain and egoic mind guides most of what we do and our spirit/soul is very suppressed for most individuals. However, when we tap into ourselves on a deeper level, we allow access and become more in tune with our souls. I don't think we have yet grasped fully all that we can about dreaming, but we are definitely getting closer than ever.

Another big proof of this that I found on myself, is have you ever noticed how you know what you saw or said in a dream, but you can't quite verbalize it to someone else. It makes sense what happened in your head, but when you try to explain it, it somehow loses its meaning. Ah, but now consider your emotions in your dreams. Those always come through vividly, as the language of our souls is our emotions. Therefore when you wake up, always try to notice more what emotion or state you wake up in rather than following all the details of the dream. This will usually be an indicator as to what your inner being is dealing with, i.e. what state of mind you are REALLY in...

Very interesting post Evita. Particularly enjoyed reading about the stuff on dreaming. I used to always remember my dreams but now I very rarely do. Is there anything you can do to increase your chances of remembering them?

Hi Hanlie,

The cycles can get a little interrupted, but what is most important first is to try to go in the dark. Yes, I know, I know not a safe way to go, but really it makes a BIG difference to the cycles. Because melatonin is very sensitive to light, so although you are lucky that you fall back asleep immediately some people are not so lucky.

The other thing to do too is to try to get up in as much of a "zombie" state as possible, (I know this sounds funny) but seriously, it will help ease you through the stages quicker to go back to where you were. In fact you do not have to begin right at stage 1 again but may jump right into 2 or 3.

This was incredibly fascinating! Thank you, I learned a lot here today...

I wonder how interrupted sleep affects the sleep cycles... I get up a few times during the night to go to the bathroom and although I fall asleep immediately again, I must still be messing up my cycles...
