@ MEMORY FOAM - Thank you for your valuable addition and for visiting Evolving Wellness.

Your story indeed rings true for so many people, who go around from doctor to doctor with no relief. It is not an issue for colds, strep throats or high blood pressure. But all too often people keep having unexplainable symptoms and doctors are baffled and can do nothing, other than experiment with this drug or that.

I am so happy to hear that the Ayurvedic practitioner was able to help. I am familiar with that area of healing and it is quite profound how extensive its roots are and the knowledge that has been passed down through thousands of years, that continues to heal people naturally to this day.

Thank you again for your contribution and I am glad to hear you are feeling well again :)

Thanks for such a thorough presentation of the value of the natural health approach.

During this year I had an up close and personal experience of its value. During summer and through early autumn I was going through a health problem of unknown cause. I saw two conventional doctors, who did their best but could not provide a diagnosis or any help at all, even though the discomfort was pretty bad.

I then visited an Ayurvedic practitioner (for those who may not know, Ayurved is an ancient holistic health system that originated in India). He prescribed three or four things, mostly herbal in nature, and gave many diet tips specific for my physiology, and I was better within a month.

The knowledge in modern medicine has its value in certain areas, and for some ailments we may need to utilize it, but it is not complete. I think you are correct that natural health will be the future path of health and medicine and it is great to see it being recognized more and more around the world.

@HANLIE - Thank you. As you know I feel very passionate about this topic.

@EARTHMOTHER - Ha ha that definitely sounds familiar as I know that was especially the way of the past - doctors being looked at like gods.

The story about your dad is very sadly real for so many people today. This is especially a harsh reality for the elderly who often do not know better, cannot ask the right questions or feel they are at the mercy of the system.

Thank you so much for sharing your valuable experience!

Wonderful post, Evita! I know waaaaaaay too many folks who think M.D. means G-O-D.

I'll never forget when my parents moved back up here, having spent the previous 16 years in Florida. Dad was toting a shoebox full of meds.

I held up a bottle and asked, "What are these for?"

He didn't know.

I pulled out another bottle. "Dad, why do you take this medication?"

"Oh, I've taken that one for quite awhile now. Can't remember what it's for."

Another bottle. "What's this one do?"

"I don't know! Why are you asking me all these questions? The doctor told me to take those pills!"

There you go: The doctor told me to take those pills. And this from a highly educated man.

Needless to say, one of the first orders of business was to find them new doctors here, and you can be sure I found ones who practiced integrative medicine and who were willing to partner in their health care.
