Thank you for including the link and sharing your thoughts! I really appreciate it, as it is always good to learn about new things. I have heard of similar filters and yes there is lots of potential in these.

And where water is concerned, this is SUCH and important topic as it sustains all life. It is something that should be given a huge priority in our lives to get the best quality we can, but many dismiss it as they do not fully understand the power and potential of water yet. So good for you for being so proactive about your health!

(I have also checked out some of your other articles – I appreciate the thoughts you share!)

My main concern in the USA is the fluoridation of water… It is so dangerous and most of the developed world has stopped this unethical practice. You can read more about it on the Fluoride Action Network website. It will make your hair stand on end.

Here in Cape Town our water is not fluoridated (althoug Johannesburg’s is) and filtered water is therefore safe. You’ve given me a good incentive to stop buying bottled water!

We were actually paying more for bottled water than gas! Those bottled water are ridiculous and I believe tap water has the minerals to keep your teeth strong and you smile clean.

Good point about going Brita or Pur or straight tap if either is your pleasure. There still will be people who buy water bottles though, and there’s room to make them greener and biodegradable at least. There are biodegradable corn plastics on the market for example. I use a Pur filter at home but have not been able to get the rest of my family to leave their Aquafina non-biodegradable bottles at the store.

I just joined as I feel we need to just get one of the bottled water makers to make the switch and that will hopefully encourage other water companies to follow their example.

We do not leave any bottles in our car, we bring a cooler to keep them cool…the water bottles I mean. And we no longer purchase new water bottles, we have reused and reused and reused our old bottles. My sons chore is to wash them and refill them. He is the one who uses them mostly, but I have snuck one here and there.

I prefer my water to be room temperature and with lots of lemon. Cold drinks are not good for you. Luckily for me I have never cared for cold drinks.

@EARTHMOTHER – Oh boy I hope they do not keep finding problems, as aside from a water filter I don’t know what else one can do… It would be wonderful to have just fresh, pure water from lakes and rivers like we used to on the Earth for thousands if not millions of years, but we messed that up during the last century.

Thank you for sharing the link with us for Global Water Blessing, I checked it out and indeed we need to focus on healing our environment and getting to the root of the problem. And they are having a conference about it today actually!

So any filter used today is a solution, but it definitely does not address the root of the problem.

@MONICA – With respect to the Nalgene bottles, I would just double check that it is not a #7 (but a #2). #7 Nalgene bottles contain Bisphenol A, which has been a controversial substance for a few years now and Health Canada was the first country to just last spring begin its ban, as BPA is a hormone disruptor among other things. Studies have shown that small amounts leach out of the plastic made with this substance and naturally it can lead to future health problems.

Perhaps Santa will indeed gift you a nice new stainless steel bottle this Christmas :)
