There are so many health and diet supplements out there today, that it is no surprise that many of us are very confused on what to choose, if anything at all. One of these supplements is the famous Greens Plus line. Back in the fall when I thought it might be a good idea to supplement a little extra for the winter I purchased one of their products and here is the review on that product.
Greens Plus is from the Genuine Health Company (Canadian based) but was formulated by Sam Graci of the original Greens Plus (American based). They have a wide variety of products that:
a) have been around for a while
b) are generally speaking reputable and research based and
c) have widely available products throughout the world
I have read many great things about their products, and decided to purchase the Greens Plus powder in the natural mixed berry flavor. I figured it might be a good enhancement to my diet over the winter months.
The product promises to increase energy and well-being through a superior and science backed list of nutrient-rich ingredients and research-proven health benefits. Just one daily serving gives you: essential antioxidants, phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals, as well as improved energy, mental clarity, liver cleansing, immune support and more.
You use the indicated amount of the product and mix it with juice or water. I tried both and despite all this nice information, I could not make it past one glass. Unfortunately my taste buds (or my husband’s) did not agree with this product. To us it tasted horrible. On the other hand a couple other people we knew tried it and loved it – so go figure. I gave it another try and another and to no avail – this flavor was just not for us.
Based on my research, the product is legit in terms of positive benefits for ones health, but nothing that in my opinion a proper diet cannot solve. However, if you cannot eat a balanced fruit and vegetable based diet for whatever reason or need to give your system a boost, you might want to give Greens Plus a try. However, with their price tag, I would not experiment with any flavors, until you get used to the original. As for me, I gave the bottle away to someone who enjoyed it and decided to stick with natural and organic fruits and vegetables!

Try shaking the natural flavour in a martini shaker with grape, or grapefuit juice. Stirring will not do it!
Good product. Use it often. Thanks for the review.
I put 3 tsp in my smoothie every morning and taste great! add 2 ice cubes, cranberry juice, bananna, yogert, frozen fruit, honey and greens!!
Hi Jessica
Thank you for adding in your method of consuming this product. The ingredients you mentioned sound like they would indeed make this product taste nice.
Thanks again for sharing what has worked for you :)
Yep, good product! Reduces my cravings for sweets. Also blend with fruit and ice. If you don’t like the original probably not much of a chance that you will like the berry. I have tasted other products which I couldn’t get past the first sip. Everyone in the house here likes Greens Plus. I have been using for about 4-5 years.
Hi Scott
Thank you for sharing your experience with Greens Plus. It is great to hear that you have found a way to enjoy it and notice health benefits as well.
Ever since I have started drinking green smoothies, I would probably enjoy these more today, but nowadays I feel no need for them with my diet. However, I definitely think they are a quality product with many benefits for people, depending on what one’s needs are.
Thanks again for your input!
Just sampled plain, berry and creamsicle at a sampling table. I’ve never liked greens. I liked all the samples. The plain and berry were made with organic apple juice. Not bad at all. The creamsicle with vanilla soy milk. Very good. I use 3/4 soy milk, 1/4 water. The first greens I’ve liked. I feel good also and it seems to curb my appetite. Also feel good about the ingredients.
Hi Tonda
Thank you so much for adding your experience with this product to the review and discussion. It sounds like finding the right flavor and adding in some personal food favorites is key to enjoying this product and getting the most out of it.
I have to count myself with those that can’t stand the taste of any of the mixes, regardless of flavor, so I take the capsules. They are a bit on the pricey side, so I don’t take them everyday. Rather I use a half dose (6 capsules) when I know my day ahead will be less agreeable to eating properly. I have an on the go job (photographer) so along with a good breakfast I take a few of these with my fruit and sandwich for lunch. Works great and I notice their impact on my energy levels when I haven’t taken them for a while
Hi S. Kavanagh
Thank you for adding in your experience :)
I’ve been using this on the advice of my personal trainer — just started with her and she’s changed up my diet in addition to getting me to pump iron and build muscle. The winning combination for me is putting it in my breakfast shakes via blender:
6 ice cubes
1c of water
1 banana
1/2c berries (I’m using strawberries/blueberries, frozen, unsweetened)
1/2oz steel cut oats
1/2oz organic quinoa
1/2oz millets
2 scoops of Greens+ Mixed Berry powder
SUPER start to the day, but a caution to the less adventurous: Don’t use the oats/quinoa/millets unless you’re okay with a very… unusual texture to your smoothie. I put them in raw. Additionally, the smoothie looks delicious right up until you add the powder — then it looks like wet cemenet. Don’t let that deter you, bottoms up! Personally, I love this recipe, but I can understand that it might not be for everyone! =D
Hi Claire!
Thank you so much for sharing that great recipe. I am sure it will make this product more enjoyable for many :)
I wouldn’t dream of having my Greens + mixed with anything but Juice or in a smoothie! I don’t love the taste alone in water; can’t do it. I do love it in OJ and I shake, shake, shake it….I shake it before every sip :-) I think all the Greens products are fantastic.
Claire (April 14th), Your quinoa, millet, steel oats “smoothie” plus the Greens + was a hit for me. I am training for an October marathon, here, in Toronto. Your recommendation is great, thanks so much. True, the texture is kinda “gritty” but the oats, millet and quinoa will keep you going for a while! The taste isn’t so bad with the Berries Greens +. It is well worth the health benefits. Much appreciated! Kathleen the running machine
I, too, put this in a smoothie in the morning for both myself and my teenage daughter who I know doesn’t always eat well. I blend in a blender two scoops of Greens Plus Multi (mixed fruit flavour) with a banana, frozen strawberries, plain yogurt, and almond milk and my fussy daughter loves it. This way I know both of us are getting all the vitamins and nutrients that we need for the day and it has also helped her with her bowel problems. I highly recommend this product and love the taste as mixed above!!!
