The reason I stopped wasn’t for anything that happened bad to me. I stayed away from drinking and driving and I did not really have a real bad experience or anything or wasn’t even overly drunk or sick. I just decided why I was doing this to myself?

I could tell you that when you give up binge drinking you will feel much better as time goes on. Those who binge drink need to examine is it really worth it? If you are unable to give binge drinking at this point, at least do not drive after you had too many drinks. You not only put your life in danger, but also those of others.

Hi John,

I want to first and foremost offer you my congrats and deep support for the lifestyle changes and choices you have made. It really comes down to each of us, the priorities we choose, how open minded we are willing to be, and how much we respect ourselves. You are truly an inspiration for many, as I know how hard it is for some to admit the dangers of alcohol, no matter how small.

It is too much of a convenient habit and the way our society supports it, promotes it and advertises it, is just sad. We say we want health solutions, and yet we by pass the most obvious ones.

Anyway I thank you so much for sharing your story and experience here. If you have more to add about this, please consider submitting an interest in being one of our Evolving Wellness in Action featured stories of the month :)

I think that binge drinking is more common than alcoholism and is a huge problem in our society. I also think that binge drinking will lead to alcohol problems and possible alcoholism for those with a predisposition to it.

I was a binge drinker for many years and I realize the harm that it does. I found out when my blood pressure spikes up when I drink several drinks. This is one of the reasons why I do not binge drink anymore.

I also don’t like the lifestyle of the binge drinker anymore and don’t want spends hours hanging out in a bar anymore. Binge drinking is very dangerous especially when it involves drinking and driving and if you want to stop you have to stay away from people and places that will tempt you.

I did not totally give up alcohol yet, but only have a few occasionally. I think if you could limit you drinking to just a few drinks, you are not doing too much damage to your body, but I do agree that even in small amount the alcohol is still not good for you.

Also, I like to point out that it is misleading to say that moderate wine drinking is good for you. Yes there are benefits because of the substances in grapes, but you could get those benefits from just drinking grape juice or eating grapes. You are still stressing you body by drinking alcohol.

Thank you for this article I am an ex-binge drinker and after many conclusions some of which came from this article I will never binge drink again. It is funny how so many university and college students invest so much money into their education but do not mind to lose brain cells through alcohol! I am very happy go lucky and do not need alcohol another myth society has tried to sell on us but may the smarter ones win!

Oh David I am so touched by your compliment ) but above all I have to say that when I set this site up it was to do just that - say and spread the truth when it comes to the biological workings of our body as I know you will not get it from society.

And I cannot tell you how incredibly rewarding this is in my life to know that I am able to to inspire, help or just remind others when it comes to their health. It all really comes down to the fact that we do not need to suffer from various physical ailments like we do, and if I can help people achieve that then I feel truly blessed. Health and wellness is definitely my passion.

And as for your decision I am thrilled, not for me, but for you as every little bit increases your body's optimal working power to sustain you in a healthy way!

I enjoy your writing so much. I become entranced when I read what you say. You are so unique. And I know you are right. It's just you never hear the things you say.
I like to have a drink when I come home and sit down in front of the computer in the evening. It's a happy time of the day for me.
And I have a big bottle of rum on the shelf. Well it just ran out and I was going out to get another one. But I am not going to do it because you are right. I am just not going to go out there and spend another twenty five dollars for poison.
And I am going to miss it.
But we will survive. LOL.
