Future Natural for Safer Cosmetics

Okay so here is my vice – I wear makeup!  I will not say I love make up, because I do not, my drawers are not full of makeup and I do not like hoarding various shades and types of makeup.  I have one eyeliner, one mascara, one foundation, a few eye shadows and a couple of lip sticks.  Since I deal with people on an everyday basis in my line of work, I find that I enjoy a well kept and elegant appearance. I am not saying one needs makeup for that look, but it definitely works for me.

I have worn makeup since my teens and over the past few years I have been successful at incorporating healthy foods, and less toxic and as natural as possible personal products and cleaning products into my life.  One area which I have been unsuccessful in was make up. It was not that I did not try, but no local stores carried any healthier alternatives.  It was even hard finding Burt’s Bees products in most stores. Anything I researched online was not worth it no matter how “naturally” they labelled themselves, as once I saw the ingredients, I was greatly dismayed.

Then it happened, a few weeks ago I came across a web site called Future Natural.  I was skeptical at first, but then as I researched their products further I honestly could not believe that make up could be made with such natural, non-toxic ingredients.  I was used to looking at my usual labels with grimaces at the numerous unpronounceable ingredients, all of which of course included the notorious parabens!  Well here was Future Natural and they were different. The following is a line from Future Natural to quickly understand what they are all about:

We’re not anti-science, we’re not blindly for nature, and we don’t profess to be perfect. What we do believe is that science and nature combine beautifully to create products that are effective and luxurious to use – but we want you to be healthy as well as gorgeous.

And along with that excerpt from them, I have found that they have an amazing philosophy for the basis of the company. It is definitely worth reading if you are serious about alternative personal products that you are not dreading of using for the fear of increasing things like your chances of various cancers. What I like too is that next to their philosophy, their slogan mimics that of Evolving Wellness very closely too:

Future Natural:

LIVE WELL.  DO GOOD.  LOOK GORGEOUS.

Evolving Wellness:

LIVE LONG. LIVE HEALTHY. LIVE HAPPY.

I have not yet had a chance to buy any of the products from Future Natural, but I am excited to do so in the near future and switch over all of my “questionable health safety” if not toxic altogether makeup, to the healthier choices Future Natural offers.  What is amazing about this company too is that they carry a wide array of products, not just cosmetics and from various truly organic and natural brands. These lines include skin care, hair care, bath and body, fragrances, baby productsapothecary and even men’s products.

Naturally the prices for most items are a little higher than perhaps the typical make up companies products out there like Revlon, Cover Girl or Maybelline, but not more than the higher end makeup companies like MAC, Estee Lauder, etc. But remember if you are serious about your health, that should not be your limiting factor, as I said in a previous article “either we pay now, or pay later”.

Out of the products that I have examined online, most are excellent in terms of the ingredients they use, being environmentally friendly, based on fair trade and even the fact that they are certified organic. What is also amazing and allows me to establish trust in Future Natural is that they disclose all of their ingredients online with every product.  That alone speaks volumes for a company who is truly trying to use the words “natural” and “organic” in their products. And the company in no way is perfect and they are the first ones to admit that, but they are numerous times better than any typical company out there right now that is selling makeup or personal care products.

Their ingredients do not consist of any petroleum derivatives, parabens, synthetic colors or fragrances, dibutyl pthalate, sodium lauryl sulphate, formaldehyde, or any other known harmful ingredients. And again that sits extremely well with me.

It is time that a company came forth and introduced alternative and healthier options when it comes to personal products that many members of the population use on a regular basis and I believe that Future Natural has done just that!

I cannot wait to start purchasing their products (on an as per need basis) and of course giving you full reviews here on Evolving Wellness of each one. If you have already tried anything from Future Natural, I would love to hear your experiences with them and/or their products.

This is good news indeed! I also wear make-up often and while I’ve managed to eliminate most toxic personal products, I haven’t replaced my make-up yet. I know of a local distributor of natural cosmetics and will certainly try their products in the near future.

  2. Evita says:

Oh lucky you Hanlie to have a local distributor, like I said I have been unsuccessful with anything local so far.

  3. David says:

Very interesting post. But not from the makeup standpoint. Because I don’t wear makeup.
I was fascinated with your revelation that you use products that you recognize as harmful! You must be a tough little organism too! :)

    :) thanks David!
